Am developing an rpg setting based on the MYST video games?

Atrus says in the game that, though it is only his theory, that the ages already exist, and are merely accessed by the writer. This is in direct conflict with his father's notion that the writer is a sort of deity that creates the ages. There is said to be evidence that the ages already exist (though I've long forgotten what it was).
