Can any banjo tailpiece work on any banjo?

I recently bought a five-string banjo for my daughter, after being assured that it was in perfect working order. To my dismay, the banjo lacks a tailpiece and a bridge. The banjo is a Vintage Epiphone 5-string banjo, and I am having considerable difficulty locating parts specifically for this type. Do these parts need to be manufactured specifically for this sort of banjo to work, or would it be possible to get a tailpiece and bridge for some other five-string banjo, and have them work just as well?
