In 2014 when preexisting conditions ban starts, will my preexisting condition have to start after that date?

In other words...What if in January, 2014 I have a preexisting condition that started in 2010; will I be able to get coverage for that illness? Some people think that the preexisting condition (illness) would have to start after January 1, 2014.
