Source of a strong solvent/paint thinner/lacquer smell in garage?

If you have those cans in your garage I would be removing them to a safer area. You should never store combustibles in an area with a furnace and open flame. I would suggest you contact your local fire department and tell them what has happened and your concerns. They may not send a full crew, but an inspector should come out and do an air quality check
