What can be bought with a bank account and not raise a red flag for a SSI recipients?

I receive medicare and medicaid do to a disability. I also receive ssdi on my fathers work record. I just found out that the checks will need to be direct deposited starting in 2013. They are doing away with the paper checks. I don't use a large amount of the check each month since I still live with family. I can't let the money sit in the bank because of the medicaid resource limits. If I did that I would loose my medicaid that pays for stuff that medicare doesn't. I have a preexisting condition and am under 65. so even if I wanted to buy a Supplement there are non that would sell to me or make me go broke. Any suggestions?
