What should be done for a cat with head trauma?

Just now, my cat was biting my foot. It's something he does often, but I try to discourage it. I was on the stairs, which have a wall on one side. So I kicked him off my foot, thinking he would fall down a stair or two, but be generally fine by virtue of being a cat. But he hit the wall with his head, and it made a noise indicative of considerable force. The upshot of which is that it's the sort of thing that would cause a concussion in people. So my gut and best guess is to treat him like I would a person with a concussion; keep him out of the heat, let him get some rest, and sleep for a while, but not more than a couple hours at a time. Is that what I should be doing?
